The Indian Photobiology Society (IPS) was initiated in 1964 as the Indian Photobiology Group and registered in 1970 in its present name. The founder Secretary of IPS, Prof. K. K. Rohatgi-Mukherjee, published an article in J. Photochem. Photobiol. B. Biol., 1991, 10, 175-178 on the scientific and organizational activities of the Society. It also reported some detail of its Silver Jubilee Celebration. The Society also celebrated its Golden Jubilee in a befitting manner. IPS started celebrating its Diamond Jubilee (60th anniversary) in January 2023 through various scientific activities like students’ competitions, popularisation of science through seminars, conferences in different colleges and higher learning institutes, etc. The Society follows the common guideline of the scientific organization by promoting research integrity, convening conferences, and seminars, and publishing research-related newsletters, books or journals, etc. For fostering responsible research practices the Executive Council has started Monthly ‘IPS Science Talk’ that was inaugurated on 24th January by Prof. Nitin Chattopadhyay, President, IPS first talk was followed by the second one by Prof. Puru Jena, Virginia Commonwealth University, USA.
